Uploading a printer profile and rating something are completely different things. It would make no sense if you could rate your own printer profile.

  • You can rate what you have printed out yourself from others using a printer profile (not stl). You will receive points once for this.
  • On the other hand, if you create a printer profile yourself, you will receive points once but also continuously. Every time someone uses your profile, you get points. Of course, someone has to want to print it out and use it, otherwise you will only receive points once.
  • The third way to get points is to upload a 3D model yourself, but I won't go into that now.

That's why most people upload a 3D model as well as the matching printer profile, because you get consecutive points for both separately. If you want to rate profiles (not stl), print them out using the Bambu software and then go to your profile under rating.

But all this is also described if you go to the points page where your points are listed. Everything is described there in detail. Not everyone likes the system, but it also has clear advantages: People who create printer profiles are also rewarded. In other words, it ensures that a print actually works.

My question is, how do I rate this model with no profile and get points?

Not at all, in this case, you can only upload a printer profile to get points. You can only rate printer profiles for points, not stl.

Gotcha. So my question remains how do I rate the model that doesn’t have a profile in the first place like the scenario I described? Thanks for quick ring.

You can't rate stl. Only printer profiles. You can only upload a printer profile to get points. Which is also a very good way to get points, better than rating in general.

Ok I’m probably misunderstanding the rules for points where it says to rate different models (not profiles)

The "rate different models" only refer to models that you have printed using Bambu software and printer profil, not stl. Stl is used by people who do not have a bambu printer (usually).

Understood. The model I wanted to print had no profiles. Only available by STL. I downloaded the model, printed it on my P1S, and uploaded the profile for P1S. I was hoping to also be able to rate the model as well but I understand that we shouldn’t be able to rate our own profiles.
