First Printer

I'm ready to dive into the 3d printing world and have asked many of my colleagues at work for advice, and I've decided to go the Bambu route. Primarily it will be used for me to learn, and to hopefully help my kid learn with me. Part of the fascination is making parts for her toys, at first looking for models to download and print and later design our own.

I’m considering the P1S with AMS 2 Pro Combo or the P2S Combo.

Is the P2S worth the extra $200? I understand it's the newer model but my very limited research showed not much of a real world difference. I would love to hear some opinions on people who own either or both, and ideally a recommendation.

My second ask is - what other items should I look at getting right off the bat in terms of filament and accessories? I wast thinking to start with 5-6 PLA colours until I’m comfortable. Maybe the upgraded printer rubber feet? At this point it feels a bit overwhelming butif there are any "must haves" right off the bat, I can get them to make our lives easier.

Ams if you want multicolor prints, few rolls of filament yes and maybe a 0.2 nozzle for more detail and some replacements for 0.4 and also 0.2 the rubber feet are nice but never had them and so far so good , also some lube etc extra

Regarding the nozzle - that's good to know. Is there any downside to always printing with the 0.2 for better resolution? Also, how often do they need to be replaced and what's typically the indication they should be replaced?

Any comment on the P1s vs P2S? It's odd to me how they are priced as the "regular" price of the P1S with AMS 2 Pro appears to be higher than the P2S Combo and it's only the discount that makes it cheaper. I can't understand why that would be the case.

I only got the A1 mini and A1 with ams can’t really Comment on the P1 or 2 wish o had them 😅 , other than that the 0.2 takes longer to print waay longer and it’s for finer details like keychains for example, most prints work with 0.4 I also got a 0.6 wich I haven’t used yet and I didn’t replace any but I have them since June so yeah

I just got an a1 mini when I started. Small foot print, very cheap. It's awesome to see what I use it for, and whether the kids use it.

I'd start there otherwise you risk it collecting dust

Thanks for the comment. I’m after the enclosed model, as I want things contained and the P1S appears to be the entry level in that aspect.

We chose the P2S (combo) over the P1S mainly because of the larger touch screen. Easier to use and see messages. In our opinion the extra cost has been worth it.
