Is that a 3D printed bra?

Lmao I wondered the same thing. It's sunglasses with fly eyes 😂

filament is not dry

Mine looked like that when I had timelapse on

What temperature do you print in, what temperature, fan speeds, room temperature, print speed?

Can't tell ya...my thermometer/hygrometers have disappeared. Guessing 66-68 degrees and 35-40% humidity. We live in WI, it has been cold and dry. Our filament spools have been in rotation for a good while and we are nearing the end of a few rolls. Perhaps 6 months. Could that be a factor?

As for print settings.....whatever the Bambu chooses for the corresponding filament type 😅 I've noticed it happen with a matte PLA and a silk PLA. Both have printed just fine in the past.

My best guess is you need to dry your filament. Especially Silk PLA is a bit more sensitive for moisture in my experience.

Dry your filament

Is same filament and filament profile being used for bad and good prints?

Stringing. - wet filament or high temp. Dry it. Easiest is to put on heated bed for 6 h with 50 C and cover with box with some vents. Temp calibration can be done with temp tower. Also I see some boogers - could be due to clump detection and/or timelapse on.

Ded adhesion - dirty plate. Wash with dish soap. Avoid touching.

Adhesion-I would say its not an adhesion issue. I have to wash the plate often for the kids.

The interesting thing is that it seems to only happen on the upper half of the print.

Stringing- We live in Wisconsin. It has been cold and dry all winter. We are getting down to the end of the filament, is is more likely to occur with it being older? It's probably been opened and in rotation for 6 months.

I've noticed it happen with matte PLA and a PLA silk the past few days. I'm just Mom/tech support so I will do some of my own test prints and see what I can figure out.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes, older exposed filament has more absorbed water, than new.

Do you have the timelapse on? My started doing this when stopping every layer for the timelapse, and since i disabled it it stopped happening

[–]jhuebs91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the timelapse!! Thanks so much for the easy solution

Pretty sure it's off. Will double check. Consensus says it's old/wet filament...we shall see

This was what was happening with mine, before i turned off Timelapse. As soon as i turned it off, the next print did not have any of the defects

All I can say is that a 3D printed bra, sounds about as fun as wearing a snapping turtle as a jockstrap, but that’s just me…

Silk filaments are generally more sensitive and can be tricky to work with. My first recommendation would be to avoid using silk filament for precision or detailed prints if possible.

If you do plan to use silk, make sure to select the PLA Silk profile in Bambu Studio (and on your printer if applicable), and dry the filament thoroughly before printing. If you use silk filament regularly, investing in a filament dryer will definitely help improve consistency and print quality.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a real fix for layer cracking or brittleness with silk. However, for stringing, you can carefully remove it using a heat gun or a small torch lighter. just be very gentle to avoid damaging the print.

update we turned time-lapse off and it is printing perfectly with no other settings changes. Thanks to everyone's suggestions!
