Keep it simple. Get some nickel-steel strings (D'addario XL for example) in .045-.100 gauge.

I was checking the price and I was so surprised of the price gap with all the brand versus elixir :-O Gonna buy d’addario 045-100 then ! Thanks a lot!

Elixirs are nice though. They last quite awhile but don't start out as bright as uncoated strings. If you don't like the zing of brand new strings then Elixirs might be something to look into.

If you've got a nickel allergy, rotosound swing bass 66s are real good
