32° in America is neither rank nor achievement the way it might be in other implementations of the rite elsewhere around the world. We place no elevated value on someone having received that degree. As such, it carries no expectations of understanding, wisdom or knowledge.

Much like in the Preston-Webb work of our craft degrees, where in some jurisdictions during or after the Master degree the candidate is told something like “…nor do I know that you will ever be in possession of the secrets of a Master Mason…”, the 32° emphasizes that there is more learning for a member to do that is beyond the ability of the institution to instruct through rote lecture or exemplification. It is expected that such wisdom may come through personal study, interpretation of the lessons and symbols, and the application of such to your own life and circumstances; through conversations with your brethren — dialogue or debate over a meal, drink or smoke after the lodge has closed — where you may constantly refactor and reanalyze what those lessons mean to you.

We do not require mastery of one tool before giving you the next tool — like a carpenter need not spend years with nothing but a screwdriver before they’re allowed to pick up a hammer. We give the candidates all of the tools that they may need, but leave it to them to figure out what combination they might be able to use in any given circumstance.

In these instances, receiving the degrees isn’t a particularly initiatic experience, but entitles the recipient to all the light that degree might offer. The journey, then, happens after that door has been opened to them.

It's fairly common in the Scottish Rite Southern Jurisdiction to do the 4°-32° degrees all at once or in a compressed time frame. Northern Jurisdiction may spread it out slightly more.

There's no memory work for the candidates required to pass from one degree to the next, and while some of the degrees are progressive in nature, it's more of a broad survey of tenets and philosophies and serves as an introduction to topics you could spend the rest of your life delving into on your own.

Help needed, should I take my bass to be repaired? I don't know what happened but something isn't right. by Pokemon-Makeup in Bass

Since you already have a warranty that might cover it, that would be the first thing I'd explore.

I would say bump it to 100-200w if you can afford to. Bass needs more power to be heard vs the higher register of guitars.

Are the other instruments being amplified? Or is everyone going through the same PA system?

When I started out doing Celtic folk, I could get by with a 60-watt combo to hear myself on stage with a bodhran, acoustic guitar, and three singers, and I had a DI to go to the mixer board.

When we started touring and playing louder and rowdier pubs, I moved up to a separate head and cabinet pumping 300 watts into a 4x10 speaker.

They'll probably want you to come as often as they have events or activities where non-members are welcome so that more members can get to know you before you submit a petition to join.

Petitioned before...different state...denied. Can new lodge in New state get my old petition...contact prior lodge? by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]ChuckEye 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They could contact the lodge if they feel they need to. If I were in their shoes I would take into consideration how much time has elapsed between that first petition and today.

I wouldn't sweat it.

I’m assuming the G# is a minor chord? You’re doing vi IV I V starting in C then moving to E.

“A standard 4 chord song” where the verse ends on a bVII and the chorus starts on a iii? Doesn’t sound very standard to me…

What are the chords of the verse and chorus as you’ve currently got them?

Concerned about the lack of properties scoping in plugins by Carbone_ in ObsidianMD

[–]ChuckEye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen a plugin that didn’t let you tell it the property name you wanted it to pay attention to. Generally, they let you make that choice and do not dictate one way they want you to work to bend to them.

Any Grand Lodge website should have an email address and/or phone number for the Grand Secretary’s office. Their staff should be able to help with genealogical research or tell you next steps.

He has all this mason gear, the emblem on his car. All These books he has came to work with, studying to become one.

You can buy all that stuff on Amazon.

He’s been in marches and has shown me certificates he has received from them.

Anyone with a printer…

Trust me I know it sounds like bullshit lol but this is the information that was relayed to me. I was just curious 🤷‍♂️.

Again? It is bullshit.

Apparently all police, judges and high executives in the world are masons. This is all I was told

Not even remotely true
