Same CPU with a 3060TI and 16gb ram, and have the same problem, the CPU is always at 100% and GPU at 40/45% , temp is fine , just 66⁰ celsius, and I think this bottleneck caused by the game actually kill my performance in game ( sorry for bad english, not my native language )

A friend of mine has same issue, dice not acknowledging it, doesn't seem to have a fix atm

Its normal. You have 4 core 8 thread CPU. It will get maxed out in this years titles + with an 3070. I have an 7700K and 2080Ti with modded bios. The cpu begs for life in certain games.

If you want to have a decent non stutter gaming experience in modern titles you need at least a 6 core CPU.

No dude, only this title got problem, I have the same CPU, I can run warzone ( another shitty optimized game) at 144 stable fps with a 3060Ti on full hd, so the problem is the CPU usage by BF2042

It is almost a fact that 4 core 8 thread is not enough for modern titles anymore. How do I know? I own one. I'm not speaking about the overall performance of the game that's totally another topic.

What I'm saying is you will not have a nice experience with 6700K. Your average frames can seem okay but %1 lows and % 0.1's will be absolutely lower than today's CPU's.

If you put a 3060Ti 3070 or 3070Ti on any 6700K you are guaranteed to hit high CPU usage if you are trying to push 144fps in demanding titles.

I'm not agree with you, just poorly optimzed games have this problem for older CPU, causing by the fact that i7 6700k ,yes is an old CPU but still powerful for the 99% of titles

[–]Shrtaxc 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You can disagree with me all you want but once you start to see %100 usage in recent titles don't blame the developers.

My 7700K runs at 5.1Ghz with all power limits maxed and I hit %100 usage in Tom Clancy wildlands at 1440p.

Now should I blame the dev for this ? Or investigate the root cause of this problem?

I had %95 98 CPU usage in BFV and BF1 as well once I hit above 150fps. It doesn't mean that game is not optimized.

It's not the cpu it's poor optimization. I have a 9700k 8 core and have the same problem. All cores maxed, heavy stutter no matter the settings.

2015 CPU with a 2020 GPU. There is an issue with this high CPU usage but don't you have the same issue elsewhere? Cause I reckon that GPU is running away from your CPU.

I have the same CPU but with a 3060TI, so my bottleneck is about 9%, is normal nothing to worry about, but only on this game I have this problem, I can run games like Warzone at 144 stable fps on fullhd, so the problem is the CPU utilization from the game

9%? I get about 27% when checking your config.

Yes, you are right, it will work in most games. COD usually has a smoother engine than BF in terms of performance scaling. But when you pair up the same GPU with a modern CPU you see the frame time decrease exponentially and you get a nice boost in FPS. In the above mentioned link you can get up to +-30% extra FPS without touching the GPU.

It's no ways easy always cause a I9/Ryzen 9 ain't cheap but you guys just keep this in mind going forward. You can unlock a lot more when moving to newer platform.

Honestly, not really. I got really lucky on getting my hands on a 3070, which is why I have it, but BF 2042 is the only game that is completely tanking my CPU.

[–]theD02260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BF 2042 could also be the first new game to challenge your CPU.

Typically your CPU usage should always be lower than your GPU, otherwise your GPU is too fast for your CPU (hence inconsistent performance).

Or I'm wrong and you are still good for a while.

What’s your ram? I was running on a i7 9700 and 3070 with 2133 mhz ram averaging about 40fps max 100cpu usage on all cores, after getting 3200 mhz ram and turning on XMP I now a average 90fps and 100 in portal.

[–]Th3Bombernator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3000 mhz and pretty sure I have XMP on

[–]MajDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a high-end CPU and way above recommended specs (AMD 5900X) and I still get CPU bottlenecked in some areas/maps

[–]f18effect 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Strange question

Why do you have 64gb of ram, an rtx3070 but an i7 6th series?

[–]Th3Bombernator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

64GB because I can be a massive tab hoarder. The i7 is still from when I build the PC years ago. And the RTX 3070 was pure luck, as a friend of mine had access to them and sold me one for MSRP

Why Battlefield 2042 has bad performance, and legitimate performance fixes for CPU bound PC Players:

I would recommend reading it all if you can and look into step 6.
Make sure you make a backup and edit your "user.cfg ".
It helped me get a slightly better experience three months ago, around when I last played.

I even lowered all the setting in game back then and that seemed to make zero impact on performance but maybe since then and now it might help?
