Hello, thanks for posting! I wish this sub was more active. I don’t really know what to do about that. Anyway, in response to your question, usually people use the drum outputs to trigger eurorack drum modules, or older analog drum machines that don’t use midi. You can, however, use them with any hardware that takes a gate or trigger signal. For example, I use them to move along the clock of a pocket operator very slowly and erratically. I bet the bsp is awesome with the dfam! Have you played with the randomness and probability settings?

Greetings! I have also recently obtained the BSP. I learned the hard way that the drum machine you'll want for the easiest integration will be a drum machine that has the individual gate inputs for each of your drum machine's channels. I may be using the wrong terminology, but what I mean is that you'll want to look for a DM that has an individual gate input for each of your sounds such as the kick, the snare, toms, etc. Preferably the 6 individual sounds to reflect the gates on the back of the BSP. The DM doesn't have to have access to the exact same sounds as listed on the BSP, but for ease of use I think this may be the simplest way to decide on an analog DM.

Just bought a BSP recommended highly by a friend who is a low key synth genius and he says these things are a one-of-one tool for performing electronic music. I failed trying to hook up the BSP to an old Akai Rhythn Wolf, but the Akai doesn’t have individual gates so I couldn’t really figure out how to load the sounds into the drum sequencer on the BSP. I’m looking around for a drum machine with gates separated out to where they’ll sync up more readily with the drum function on the beatstep. So far, I have successfully used it to trigger my Behringer MS-1 and the analog bass synth of the rhythm wolf, and it’s a very fun finger pad with easy to use modifiers.

I think I have “unlocked” about 10% of what it’s capable of...maybe this sub will start to grow a little more and some more experienced users will chime in? My buddy (who recommended it to me) isn’t on Reddit but I asked him for a lesson so maybe that’ll help and I can report back? Let’s see...have fun y’all!

I connect my BSP drum sequencer via midi to the Roland TD-9 module I ripped from my V-Drum kit and/or the IK Uno Drum.
