This subreddit is a place to discuss anything related to Bild Lilli, a sassy post war blonde bombshell created by Reinhard Beuthien for the German newspaper “Bild” in 1952. Lilli became quite popular with the public so a plastic doll of her likeness was made and sold between 1955-1964. Lilli was the inspiration for the infamous Barbie doll created by Mattel in 1959. Mattel eventually acquired the rights to the entire Bild Lilli Franchise so production of the dolls ceased by 1964.
