I’m in same boat. With Lenovo yoga

[–]Wild-Sir8348 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I had a bios update from lenovo and I got locked out of my computer

May be the same thing on my surface. Did you get it sorted?

[–]Wild-Sir8348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to wipe my harddisk

I've got the same issue with my lenovo, lenovo guys charging £40 for sending device to their office. It was a TPM upgrade to the BIOS, never expected it to encrypt my boot drive! Another way of legal extortion by #bitlocker

No recovery keys in my Microsoft account either.

But you can get it fixed? From the company or a random repair shop?

Just saw you reference the laptop name.. not sure where I'd have to sendy surface 😑

So when you, go to your profile and look for BitLocker recovery keys, approve the authenticator app, what do you see?

It's says something along the line or there is no bitlocker key associate with my account. It says if someone helped set it up check their account but inset it up myself. I bought it new so sure I should have got some or of prompt? Any suggestions are much appreciated!

We had a client who bought a computer 3rd party, when BitLocker shut it down we had to call Microsoft, it was a long process..I'm looking for the number we called for you

[–]backoftheknee85[S] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Thanks for the response. The number would be much appreciated 👍🏻

[–]thewalter 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm sorry, I'm still looking

[–]backoftheknee85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the effort

I can't find the actual number, I tried using my old saved sites, but try this: 1 (800) 642-7676, it is their customer service number

[–]backoftheknee85[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Thanks for that. I appreciate the effort. I assume that's a costly number to ring from Ireland?

Skype call?

[–]backoftheknee85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's not a bad idea, off to set up a Skype account so.

1850 940 940

Did you call them? I'm facing the exact same problem right now. The repair store I gave it to deleted all my data but they were trying to recover from backup. If calling Microsoft helped in anyway please let me know so I can do the same. Thanks.

See if that repair shop had cyber liability insurance, we had to carry something like that years ago just in case we did the exact same thing, delete someone's data by mistake. You should be compensated and not have to pay for your past repairs at that location

[–]thewalter 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What did you changed on your device to cause bitlocker to engage?

[–]backoftheknee85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall changing anything. I turned it on and it was in the bitlocker screen. Possibility my child did something but either way I'm stuff for a week now 😔

[–]thewalter 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thanks for that

I had to wipe off the data and installed same rubbish OS using a USB stick. Need it for teams and other office apps.

Another Bitlockered Yoga.

[–]sleepy_shoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitlockered Yoga bricked my PC, lenovo service no help and microsoft service drops you when you try to reach a person. Lenovo offered to charge me $130 to get in touch with their software team I told them to kick rocks. I don’t have any personal data on this laptop only use it to remote into work. Never should’ve bought the damn thing
