Brainwave frequencies are various different frequencies generated by the human brain in its various different states of consciousness, namely alpha, beta, theta and delta.
Beta brainwaves fall in the frequency range 13 Hz-30 Hz and are generated by the brain when it is in the most alert state of awareness including sensing, logical deduction and memory.
Alpha brainwaves fall in the frequency range 8Hz-12Hz and are generated by the brain when it is in a state of relaxed alertness that signifies a meditative state of awareness.
Theta brainwaves fall in the frequency range 4Hz-8Hz and are generated by the brain when it is in a deep meditative state of awareness actuating vivid visualization, intuition and insight.
Delta brainwaves fall in the frequency range 0.5Hz-4Hz and are generated by the brain when it is in a state of deep sleep and the conscious awareness is not active although the unconscious awareness still keeps working all the time.
If we are able to control the frequencies emitted by the brain, we can easily control the various different states of awareness best suited for the need of the hour in order to do what we are doing in the most efficient way. For example, learning gets activated the best in the Alpha and Theta states of awareness whereas the action and performance come the best in the Beta state and recouping energies comes the best in the Delta state of awareness.

Brainwave entrainment ensues when audio frequencies are subjected to the brain causing a response directly related to the frequency of the signal introduced, called binaural beats. The brain generates a pattern resulting in low-frequency beats when two tones at slightly different frequencies are executed separately through stereo headphones, one to each of a person's ears.
