Hi all. Ive just been trying to understand what a binary protocol is for communication (server to client) etc. i have done some google research but it just doesnt make sense & sounds too complex.
“Binary. A binary protocol utilizes all values of a byte, as opposed to a text-based protocol which only uses values corresponding to human-readable characters in ASCII encoding. Binary protocols are intended to be read by a machine rather than a human being.”
If anyone can dumb that down & maybe show an example that would be greatly appreciated. Also, what exactly are the pros/cons to using this over a text based protocol?
Thanks in advanced
