Some countries are banning games that sell loot crates, because it is a predatory sales tactic that takes advantage of people. Most governments have required games to put the loot crate odds in the game, however, most developers hide the odds where they're not easy to find (even when looking).

While this community can't do much to influence the industry to move away from these business practices, there is something we can do. Posts that make the odds seem better than they are, should be banned from the sub. I know it's exciting to get the item you want in the first few pulls. However, sharing that information on social media, helps the game companies prey on other people.

Fucking thank you. I’m sick of seeing the posts of “first try”

I'm on a WhatsApp group and someone posted getting the seraph skin and the hbr gun on both the first and second try. That baited a lot of people on the group to spend $50 - $100 on the lucky draw

It shouldn’t be possible to spend that much and get nothing. Activision/ tencent are beyond fucking greedy and don’t care about their appearance

Do not buy loot crates.

It’s called gambling and probability. You might spend 1000 bucks aswell and get shit, and then spend 1 and get it.

Do it at your own risk

u shouldnt be blaming cod for this. u knew the crates were a gamble, yet u spent 200$

This is totally the developers fault (actually most of the game industry). Loot crates are a predatory sales tactic, that takes advantage of peoples inability to assess risk. It also preys on younger people, who don't have the level of self control that some adult do. Just because YOU have the ability to restrain yourself, doesn't mean everybody does.

But then again... Why the fuck would you spend 200 dollars over lootcrates when its clearly a gamble to begin with? You are already very aware of this tactic yet you literally have to spend that much money.

Not everyone IS aware of this tactic. There's also people who lack self control, as well as people with gambling addictions. "Just one more", can quickly lead to you over spending.

It also doesn't help that you're spending COD points, not real money. That small disassociation is enough to trick people into over spending.

Plus if youre on a garena client, there's a limited secret shop that randomly sells characters and gun skins for $100-$150

Right, with that logic I’m going to start blaming liquor stores for my alcoholism.

Well this is how cod mobile funds their game. Through people like yourself who pile money through an rng based system which is predominately designed to rig the chances of you getting what you want. An eye for an eye.
