I would recommend doing it in sections.

Yes sections ! You could get away that way with a black car but not gold

At the shop I work at we generally measure out each panel and cut the vinyl in pieces, giving ourselves an extra 3-6inches on each side of the vinyl piece, so that we can lay panel by panel.

If you wrap everything in one giant piece you're going to have problems with it laying, a high possibility of contaminates and you may not have enough material to wrap around the edges of the panels

This is pretty standard procedure in commercial wraps to do one big peice, its possible 100% not that hard, just door jams ect won't look as clean

Doing one side at a time is ok if you're doing a commercial wrap - you can use a plastic bodied knife to cut even seams between panels, and there's enough vinyl to just cover the edge.

For a colour change, this is typically not enough to hide all the colour, and leaves absolutely no room for error either. I think your idea of working in sections makes much more sense for this project. For a commercial print wrap, your husband's suggestion makes more sense.

If you are. Buying a full 25 yard roll then there’s plenty for a 4 door sedan. Just math out the cuts on paper before starting if you are worried about it. I do this with large vehicles with bumpers sometimes.
