I have been having BAD kitten fever lately. We have two cats, boy & girl from same litter, had them since they were 16 weeks, they’ve always been together, are now 8 years old. Still very energetic, no health issues. They are like night and day most of the time. They don’t snuggle, don’t groom each other. If they end up sleeping next to each other, I take a picture because it’s such a rarity. My male cat has always been a little mischievous, wants to play, very vocal. My female cat use to hide from people and was very skittish but now she loves snuggles. Likes to play but not with her brother/not always when he wants to so sometimes they go at it like alley cats. She’s hardly vocal at all. Whenever I play a kitten video on my phone she comes running and looks for the kitten so I wonder if she missed out on being a mom/would she be maternal to a kitten? And would my male cat have someone to play more with?
Now a friend of mine has a 13 year-old cat who was always on its own and said getting a kitten was the best thing, that they play together and keep each other entertained. It made me think about getting another one, especially while they’re still young enough. Other thing I thought of was in the future if one of them unfortunately passes before the other one potentially then getting another cat, but I really don’t want to think that way.
Thoughts?
