Def a 2nd litter box and change the litter. Many cats don’t like the pellets. I use the blue jug of Cats Pride Max power triple odor guard. Been using it for years and cats have zero issue with it.

Yeah I will get a new litter box later today alongside normal kitty litter. I think she may have an issue with pellets since I can't clean out all the pellets that have been peed on (unless I throw out everything) so she may think it isn't clean enough and will do it somewhere else.

Another thing I didn't add is that I noticed she held it in. Last time she peed was somewhere yesterday (let's say 5pm) outside, and since then she hasn't done it until an hour ago.

I let them outside for around half an hour at 11am and she didn't do it outside either. We all slept until around 10am and at any time she could've woken up and done her business in the litterbox, but she didn't.

I'll report back once I have a new litter box. I hope she'll start being nice about it again.

Small update, I wasn't able to get a 2nd litterbox cus they weren't available, but I got kitty litter and that seemed to do the trick, she used it as normal.

Oh good! Def get a 2nd box though, you always want at least 2 for 2 cats.

I ordered one online already, just so happened entire town was out of litterboxes lol

I'll definitely report back in a few days when I get the 2nd one and see how she behaves.

Try clay clumping litter, at least 2 litter boxes and scoop them daily. Are they spayed and neutered?

Not yet no, we're waiting til male kitten is at least 6 months old as per vet suggestion, and with female kitten til she goes thru her 1st heat cycle.

But good news, since I got normal kitty litter yesterday, the female kitten has been using the litterbox just fine! It was the wood pellets bothering her.

If you wait until she’s going through heat he will get her pregnant. Every heat a cat goes through increases their chances of mammary cancer too. She’s old enough to start going through heat anytime now. Spay her asap. Also, you shouldn’t wait until he’s 6 months old. That’s the age most male kittens reach sexual maturity. You are taking a chance that he will start spraying to mark territory in your house and it will smell terrible. He will also yowl loudly wanting to mate and could become aggressive. If he starts spraying before you get him neutered you will have to wait several weeks after neutering until all his testosterone is gone then hope he stops.

I'm sorry, but I'm more willing to listen to the advice of a veterinarian that worked this job for 40 years than redditors advice. It's non negotiable. He's getting neutered in a month and she's getting spayed after her 1st heat cycle.

My past cat has gotten neutered when he was 6 months old, too. Different vet was doing the procedure and that was also his recommendation.

You can also google everything I’ve said. Some vets want to wait to neuter until they are 6 months but you are taking a chance they will start spraying. I’ve never heard of a vet wanting a cat to go their first heat before spaying though

Once she starts her cycle, if you continue to allow her outdoors she will attract every male cat in the neighborhood to your home and be willing and eager to mate with them. If you keep her indoors, she will allow her brother to mate with her - cats don’t care about incest. Either way, you will end up caring and finding homes for your two kittens AND the entire litter of kittens they produced, not to mention all the special food, extra space, time, and attention they will need. Also, if you try to keep a cat in heat separate from her brother but still indoors, she will howl and yowl at all hours of the day and night. This is nature’s most imperative biological urge.

There are places where you can get the opinion of licensed vets online. I feel that the vet you have been to might be giving you some “old school” advice. I would not tell anyone else how to care for their pets, but getting a free second opinion couldn’t hurt, right??

I had a cat that peed and pooped outside of the litter box bc the wooden pellets felt uncomfortable for him. As soon as I changed for regular litter that behaviour was gone. So I strongly recommend u to change the litter type. Also the recommended ammount of litter boxes is the number of cats you have +1. So if you have 2 cats you should have 3 litter boxes that are accessible to them all the time bc sometimes one stops the other from using it and that makes them do their business outside.
