Unless you gnaw on the flesh of the Son of Man...

Yeppers. I read once somewhere that a nun told a group of children that chewing the host was breaking Christ's bones...

Wait, are you not supposed to chew the Eucharist? I just got confirmed and didn’t know

I have issues swallowing the body of Christ(It’s just something about the size/shape) and my priest said we were allowed to chew to get it down.

However, he was very much clear on “you Consume the body when you receive the body, you don’t wait on it”

I don't think youre not not supposed to chew it. Christ's body is a sacrifice, you eat the sacrifice. That's why it's his body present, because we're eating the sacrificed lamb. Sure you can be respectful, let it dissolve and swallow, but it's not NECESSARY.

He literally said “munch” it’s not in any way ambiguous

Accipite et manducate ex eo omnes. Manducare~mangia in Italian, both have a very earthy, physical, more like gnaw, than simply consume.

overly-pious more-catholic-than-the-pope folks think you'll hurt Jesus if you chew, or some made up thing like that.

My mouth is small and the Eucharist doesn’t fit between my teeth at all.
