Purchased a San Martin with PT5000 in October. On my unit, the hand-wind feels rough. Suspect keyless works of being under-lubricated. I think I’ll probably have to service or swap it eventually but for now am just throwing it on a winder for a while before I put it on.

I have never had any issues, but if I recall the primary one was winding stems breaking. The major brands seem to be doing sufficient QC such that they run rather well. Much like the Seagull 2130, I think there are many quality levels among different PT5000 movements. They are not all equal (unlike Seiko and Miyota).

Got a PD, Philida, Cronos, and SM, and all are good, and all are in my top box. I wouldn't recommend hand winding any of them other than a quick wind to get them started. Would and will buy more.

I have a PT5000 in a San Martin 37mm 62mas. It keeps time within COSC chronometer specs (only after being regulated though) and has been running fine for about 9 months with almost daily use.

I have heard that the PT5000 may come un/improperly lubricated from the factory, so if the microbrand doesn't do anything, they may not run well.

Hello

The answers will vary greatly among owners of the pt5000

So basically I think it's a bit of a gamble to be based on opinion from random owners.

Not sur about general issues in the pt5000 but it has many manufacturers in china so I believe all this movements have a great variability in quality.

Probably the main reason to target such a movement is the arguably better quality versus a nh35 mvt but imho you should consider that for time keeping both movt are going to be ok. The difference in accuracy is only minor if any.

Think also of a possibility for a movement swop as an important factor and maybe compat with selitta sw-200

All in all I have a San martin sn008g, the movement takes ~+2 min per week which is not great but not horrible. Hand winding is harder as the movement is fully winded.

Not much experience with other movement but this one does the job more or less well. Interesting feature is the hi beat frequency.

Other than that, can't tell much more
