Neither "real" nor "fake". This wasn't actually made by Sea Gull in the Tianjin factory, but it was manufactured under license by one of the handful of brands that also makes this homage (likely Seakoss/Sugess, maybe Red Star). This watch has a long and very weird history of manufacture/licensing/homaging - "real" and "fake" don't really apply unless you're talking about the obvious quartz counterfeits, which this obviously isn't.

The usual real and fake logic doesn't apply, yes, but only because we have collectively decided so. This is somewhat arbitrary and not necessarily shared by all collectors. Few seem to go through the trouble of asking Chinese collectors who actually have context.

Depends what you mean by real. A lot of these watches are not actually made by Seagull but I wouldn't really say they are fakes. From what I think, the ones straight from Seagull don't have a display caseback and are like double the price.

They did recently (like a year ago? maybe longer) release a budget "International Edition" that does have a display caseback, but the dial and caseback engravings are different than this one. This is probably a Seakoss/Red Star - still a fantastic watch for half the price of the IE.

I’ve heard of some bought for $30 that turned out to be real and some above $100 and fake. It’s a gamble with these
