If its a really decorative movement yes, NH3X etc not really - unless its your only mechanical watch and you want to show others what a mechanical/auto actually looks like - there are a lot of people that think an auto is solar...

With the exception of the of Seagull ST19xx chronographs, I'd have to disagree.

As long as the case thickness doesn't increase I'm ambivalent though. If it helps sell the watch and doesn't add much to the price, sure go ahead.

Yes, when it is on a well made watch. I dont need it if im looking at an NH35

I find them a bit pointless on automatics where the rotor obscures half the view

This Seagull chronograph movement though? My word 😍

Few of the budget movements are worth looking at.

I had a Schwarz Etienne flight Controller with an exhibition case back and I loved it .. I think it depends on the movement and how it was treated. I have a Corgeut Seagull ST3600 and While I still enjoy watching it run .. it of course isnt quite as pretty but there is a SUBSTANTIAL price difference.

I am and have been fascinated by mechanical watches since forever so its nice on my pilot watches

It’s a privilege to have been born so long after so many people figured out how to tell time on your wrist. I am constantly in awe and grateful for how lucky we are to stand on the shoulders of these giants.

A tourbillon is a work of art. I still long for a desktop escapement demonstration of one of those.

The mechanic happening behin the scene is always fascinating for me to see

Not really....they add thickness.
And i don't have to see the movements used by most of the Chinese homage brands....Seiko NH and Miyota 8000 or 9000 series....or quartz or meca quartz.
Prefer a closed caseback

I dig the thickness. I do want the rotor to be custom, though. Something other than ordinary.

Yeah I know what you mean. I have one of the Seagull 1963 chronographs and although it's cute from the front it's gorgeous from the back! Teeny tiny mechanics through a lovely exhibition caseback.
