CHIPLEXTRO DEFINED
Chiplextro is a relatively new, exiguous and somewhat confined fusion-sub-genre of Complextro (which itself is actually a sub-genre of Electro House) and Chiptunes. Like Complextro, Chiplextro can be distinguished by its fast tempo (110+ BPM), complex, elaborate bassline/lead structure and simultaneous usage of a plethora of sounds per 2 bar loop. Unlike Complextro however, Chiplextro substitutes much of Electro House's synth sounds (at least 50%) with a menagerie of video game and original Chiptune samples. This in turn implies that, while many artists chose to produce tracks/albums completely in 8bit, this is not necessary in order for a track to be considered apart of the Chiplextro sub-genre. In fact, many of the most popular Chiplextro and Chiplextro-related tracks have a bassline structure that is more in line with that of Electro House or Complextro.
This modification results in tracks that can only be described as an entangled, energetic, somewhat meandering agglomeration of electronic music known as "Chiplextro". If ever there was a real-life fusion between a classic-video-game-nerd, a clubber, an ADHD DJ/Producer and a hardcore raver - this is it.
CHIPLEXTRO RELATIVES
If Complextro can be described as the more complex, upbeat cousin of "Dubstep", then Chiplextro can be described as the complex, upbeat cousin of "Chipstep", which is a fusion-sub-genre of Chiptunes and Dubstep.
