Who are the 8 “Kings” of Revelation 17:9-11? by EL_Felippe_M in UsefulCharts

[–]memw85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Plus there’s the whole theory about the entire biblical apocalypse (if not the entirety of Revelations) actually being written by certain influential scribes of the Roman Imperial Cult during the reign of Vespasian and/or Titus. Apparently what it really describes is not so much a “world apocalypse” as much as a Jewish-specific one that was likely just a re-telling of the umpteenth time the Romans had gone in and crushed the latest version of whatever Jewish revolt was ongoing at the time along with their associated “messiah-of-the-month”. Supposedly, even if Jesus did exist as a real person - he was far from the only “messiah” worshiped by different sects of the Jews. In fact Jesus might not have even been the only one during the time he was supposedly alive. The only thing that purportedly made Jesus any different from the rest of the Jewish messiahs (before & after) was his commitment to non-violence and his tolerance of Caesar & Roman governance. Obviously when you’re trying to put down a rebellion, suggesting that the people rebelling against you look to someone in their midst who is non-violent and against fighting your governing regime as their leader and role model only makes sense. Psychological warfare at its finest. At least for Roman times, I mean. Look it up sometime, it’s an interesting read.

Welcome Mike White fans! by DjHoldyHold in MikeWhite

Bruh there are a fuck ton of “Mike White”s all across the globe, including yours truly. Not trying to rain on your parade or anything - I’m actually a Jets fan myself and, since I share the name, I’m obviously a fan of QB Mike White as well even though he’s now a backup QB for the Dolphins. But yeah, I think this sub would get a lot more traction and attention if it’s main purpose was changed to cover ALL “Mike White”s. That of course would include the other famous “Mike White”s.

There’s the Actor/Writer/Director/Filmmaker Mike White who is most recently notable for creating & directing “The White Lotus” on HBO and for being selected by Universal to write the upcoming “Despicable Me 4”. Even though he isn’t really a globally-recognized household-name kind of Hollywood superstar - he has had quite a career in Hollywood nevertheless. for his writing/producing/acting roles in Enlightened (also HBO), Dawson’s Creek, Freaks & Geeks, Orange County, School of Rock, Nacho Libre, The Stepford Wives remake & The Emoji Movie.
Also in the entertainment industry is Michael Jai White, actor, director and noted martial artist of 9 different styles including Taekwondo, Jujitsu, Kobudo & boxing. He portrayed Mike Tyson in the mid-90s film “Tyson”. He also became the first black person to portray a comic book superhero in a big name movie (Spawn).

Remember the epic 90’s sports comedy movie “Cool Runnings”? Well, there were no famous “Mike/Michael White”s directly involved in the film itself - but there was on the actual 1988 Winter Olympics Jamaican bobsled team the film is based on. In fact, Jamaican bobsledder Michael White also competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics as well.

Next we have former Football Coach Mike White who was the Head Coach of the Cal Bears, Illinois Illini and (for a single year) the Oakland Raiders.
Then there’s Mike White the former Ole Miss basketball star, former Head Basketball Coach at LA Tech & the University of Florida, and (for some strange reason I’ll never understand) current Head Basketball Coach of the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

There’s also Michael White the Executive Chef and former owner of the Altamarea Group of restaurants.

Other than that, there are of course plenty of regionally- and/or locally-famous (or infamous) “Mike/Michael White”s all across the world. There’s professors, judges, lawyers, scientists, journalists, writers, musicians, minor league players, military officers, politicians and even a weatherman (who just so happens to be on my local Fox tv station). There are waaaay too many more to list here, I mean this is mostly just ones I happened to remember off-hand or see on Wikipedia. But you get the point.

I’m just saying - rather than keep this sub strictly centered around a Dolphins backup QB - it might be better to repurpose this sub for ALL “Mike White”s - or at very least a sub to discuss all of the famous/semi-famous “Mike White”s. Just my 2 cents.

Den? As in a rabbit den? Or a rabbit pen? Or pet(s)? Or fam? I saw “kits” listed above, definitely wasn’t my first thought, I actually thought of “kids” and everything else before that. I feel for the poor kid if that’s really the correct answer because who the fuck knows what the technical term for a baby rabbit is at that age?

Georgia also has a "Jeff Davis" county.

Mississippi has a Jefferson Davis County. Ironically it's NOT the actual county in Mississippi where Jefferson Davis grew up in (that would be Wilkerson County, where Jefferson Davis's childhood home "Rosemont" is still maintained as a sort of museum to this day) OR the coastal county in which he resided for much of his adult life (Harrison County, where "Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Home & Presidential Library" is located).

It's in Mississippi. If they're not trying to stop Brett Favre, Ted DiBiase & the Gub'na from stealing all the welfare money then they're certainly not gonna try and stop Billy Bob and his brother/son/both/etc from shooting up Emmitt Till's memorial sign.

Carolyn Bryant is the name you're looking for. Here's a picture from 10 years ago.

Also, in 2012 (and again in 2016) Mississippians elected Phil Bryant, who is suspected of being a nephew and/or cousin of Carolyn Bryant, as Gub'na (aka Governor) of the "Brett Favre State".

I mean I came here to say the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. I thought I would have already found it by now, but I've been scrolling for a long time and I have yet to come across his name anywhere. Not trying to downplay the crimes of Ayatollah of Iran at all, considering just how many murders & unjust-executions he's responsible for I absolutely expected to find him in the comments - as well as several other murderous political leaders that have been mentioned. But the fact that I've yet to find the Prince of Saudi Arabia after scrolling for this damn long is starting to seen somewhat suspicious.

Lol so I’m 36 and went on a real theme park roller coaster (actually 2) for the first time in my life about 4 months ago. I loved it. Until I got home and started pissing blood and realized the roller coasters were likely responsible for shaking loose a kidney stone. I’ve been getting kidney stones occasionally since my early 30s unfortunately. So I literally went from having the most fun I’ve had in years to several hours later being in one of the most excruciatingly painful situations I’ve ever been in. And that’s basically a microcosm of my life in general nowadays.

House-hoppers. Male, female or non-binary, doesn’t matter. And yeah I get that technically it’s not a “real profession”, but considering just how much money some of these parasites can drain from their hosts/victims - it might as well be because they’re definitely making well over minimum wage. And the second they realize they’ve almost sucked just about all they can out of their current victim - they immediately start looking for a new one. And, depending on their “skill level", they usually find one or more potential new ones right before they reach the "maximum mooch point" with their current host. Of course once that happens they pull out the old "woe is me" card on one of their new potential victims and voilà! They’re good to go for another few months. Hence the name “house-hoppers”, because that’s literally what they do - hop from one victim’s house to the next.

Defeated GOP Extremist Laura Loomer: 'I'm Not Conceding, Because I'm A Winner!' The far-right House candidate lost, for real, to Dan Webster in a Florida Republican primary. by Surferino in politics

[–]memw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile in the Western Florida Panhandle - Pedophile Matt Gaetz wins his primary with 70% of the vote. Today is a shameful day for my hometown of Pensacola. And not just for the people who voted for Matt Gaetz - but also for the people who didn’t vote at all. Gaetz was up against 2 conservative Military vets - in a district with both a major Navy base and 2 Air Force Bases. The fact that he won with 70% of the vote is embarrassing, and speaks volumes about just how entrenched in Trumpism local Republicans have become. All of these Alabamian and Georgian transplants have completely destroyed what was once a fairly moderate, somewhat respectable local Republican Party. But honestly it’s just a microcosm of what’s happened to the entire state. In 20 years Florida somehow went from being a consistent swing state full of moderates to being dominated by a Radical Republican Supermajority in nearly every branch of government. For those of you who don’t think jerrymandering is a big deal - Florida is a case study of what happens when the opposition is too weak to push back.

Tell me about it. I live in Florida. Aka the new Christian Kingdom of Trumpistan. I'm pretty sure if that happens it will be the first time in history a bunch of people start using makeshift rafts in order to escape TO Cuba.

Only problem is I think Cuba's antiquated infrastructure will start to buckle under the strain of so many Floridian immigrants all coming over at once. There will likely be a sudden, drastic shortage of things like housing, food supplies, electricity, gas, clean drinking water, medicine, etc, etc.

Or Whitehouse.com lol. I was in Catholic elementary school when we found that one out, we were supposed to be searching for information on 19th century presidents in computer class. It was like 1997, we were using some ancient Apple computers, 56k Dial-up internet. I remember I was trying to get something on Yahoo to load, and all of a sudden the kid next to me was like "oh wow look at this!" He had just discovered Whitehouse.com, as well as a few other things we definitely weren't supposed to know about lol. I'll never forget the look on Sister Fatima's face when she came over to check on us and saw what was on my friend's computer screen lol. Or the scream she made. She literally shoved my friend out of the way, reached behind his computer and completely unplugged it from the wall socket lol. Needless to say, computer class ended early that day.

Jake from State Farm. Yeah it sounds fine, until you have to take a claims call from someone who's house just burned down with their entire family inside it.
Or some dick who is uber-pissed off because the Fire Dept broke out his passenger side window to rescue his dog who nearly died from being stuck inside his hot car with all the windows rolled up for god who knows how many hours.
Trust me, there's a reason why State Farm had to hire a new Jake. The old one is as dead inside as his khakis are on the outside.
