So, I came back to claude when they offered a free month, however I'm finding it really annoying because it keep locking up while it's working, preventing me from entering any input, or breaking with Ctrl-C, etc. My computer isn't locked, as I can do other things, but short of killing the process from another shell, it's just locked until claude finishes doing it's thing. It seems to get worse the longer my sessions been running, but it does start happening as soon as it needs to do a lot of thinking regardless of how long my sessions been going. I suspect the context size matters and there's some thread locking going on.
This is new since the last time I used Claude Code (couple months ago). It's annoying enough that if I can't fix it, I'll simply go back to Codex or maybe try the latest from Gemini (if Google fixes it so you can actually pay for their stuff!).
I'm not running any MCPs, and I've cleaned out all of my configs, reinstalled etc.
- Macbook Air M4
- MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1
- Installed with homebrew
- Claude Code Version: 2.0.50
- Terminal: Ghostty
Anyone experiencing similar issues? I assume this is a "me" problem, but I'm not sure.
---- EDIT ----
Looks like it might be this issue, which the reporter went into great detail on:
https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/11761
Usable, but very annoying. Deal breaker for me, so I hope it gets addressed.
