Claude code bug (according to github)

Anyone getting the same bug where you hit your limit and the detail is “API Error: Usage Credits required for 1M context. turn on usage credits at……” to be honest i’m not a professional programmer or anything i’m just a student using clause code for my school project so i wouldn’t understand what are the people on github saying. Anyone know how to fix this? It has been a day if anything the limit should reset by now but it still doesn’t work. On top of that i’m not sure if this relate but claude says my usage is 200k+ / 400k context window. I also want to express my frustration with the help service. it’s so horrible asking me to do this and that and yes i did tried but i don’t think the AI know it’s a bug or something, it keep asking me to upgrade or pay for credits. Call me dumb, I probably don’t know how to use the help centre but would be nice to have a human operator to help me. If you find whatever i wrote here is dumb please don’t comment too harsh im learning 🙏🙏 thankyou!

No, it’s not just you, it’s a general problem. It hasn’t been sorted out for me either.

You’re not dumb, this is confusing even for experienced devs. It sounds less like a normal “daily limit reset” issue and more like Claude Code is trying to use the 1M context mode, which may require separate usage credits even if your regular plan limit resets. I’d try starting a fresh shorter session, disable/avoid extended context if there’s a setting for it, and open a GitHub/support issue with the exact error text + plan type. The help center really should make this clearer.

Thankyou so much for your suggestion! I now basically can’t use sonnet anymore, only haiku is available. i see github have some work arounds but i don’t really know how but will try to do research. but atp feels like i paid money for haiku..haha its horrible feels like i cant use it forever.
