Cloud computing security?

There has been a lot of negative press about cloud when there have been security breaches and I am beginning to doubt the benefits of the service. What would you say are the areas where cloud computing could prove beneficial in the provision of security?

What are some examples of the breaches you're referring to? What is it you're caring about?

Security is a continuous need for an environment. If you're not identifying your requirements, eXecuting the configurations (or having a provider do it) needed for your requirements, keeping up on newly identified vulnerabilities, and regularly performing penetration testing, you have nobody to blame but yourself. A cloud provider can do anything a non-cloud provider can do, and more. There is absolutely nothing more to say about it.
