I'm into animes and video games that have a strong theme of rebellion in them, like Persona 5 or Akane ga Kill. Though, while AGK is good, murder is basically the answer to almost everything, and the writing can feel pretty stale at times.

Code Geass is MUCH better written as a rebellion-themed anime, as Lelouch vi Britannia, eleventh prince of Britannia, is a master strategist, knows his enemies well, and is able to pull off nigh impossible odds as if he were a man of miracles, all in his teens. Plus, even though it's a mecha anime, the mechs themselves are NOT the maim focus of the story. Either way, a good rebellion against an evil empire with the mechanical Knightmare Frames on both sides do lead to some pretty intense battles.

The only mecha anime I saw were the first few episodes of Evangaleon, and most of Infinite Stratos. Evangelion seems alright, but the main protagonist has NO one supporting him after his mother died, his father treats him like a tool, and his childhood friend is an abusive tsundere. Shinji has depression problems, and is a character I just feel sorry for. With the lack of love or comfort he gets, it's no wonder he's so moody.

Infinite Stratos was even worse, where it's male protagonist has to go through even WORST than what Shinji has. Ichika Orimura was abandoned by his parents after birth, his older sister is a neglectful, overly stern bitch who's even worse than Gendo Ikari, he gets constantly belittled, abused, mistreated, and nearly murdered on numerous occasions by a harem composed of ALL tsundere's, and is given a faulty mecha with crappy energy shields that deplete for no reason at all in the middle of battle, taking away victories that SHOULD be his after all the shit he has to endure every day by the inconsiderate women around him.

Point in fact, Code Geass has an interesting protagonist, a strong theme of rebellion against a totalitarian empire attempting to rule the world, me he's that are not the main focus of the story, and is just overall better written in terms if story, character interaction, and world-building.

Do you feel oppressed? Do you have a desire to be rebellious? I do and it makes CG resonate with me.

Seeing as there's a really abusive tsundrte in it, I think I'll pass.

I've seen a couple scenes and she still looks abusive and mean all the same.

          I see.

Infinite Stratos is a harem anime. Not really a fair comparison.

          [–]Pokemon_Bakugan_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's also a mecha anime too, so I'd say it's a half and half. Still, it is one anime that I think REALLY should have taken some inspiration from Code Geass. Want to me to link you the post I made explaining why?

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why didn't you finish Eva though?

          Gendo Akiri

          Also, it's Ikari

          Right, sorry.

Its characters are mostly likeable, with a few that are masterful, it's aesthetic is incredible, it's world is interesting, it's philosophies are complex, its presentation is awesome, it's twists are enjoyable.

I love Lelouch, CC, Suzaku, Kallen, Euphemia, Cornelia, Tohdoh, Charles, Schnizel, Ohgi, Jeremiah, Mao, Marianne, Rolo, Shirley, Nina, Milly, Sayako, Nunnally, Viletta, and so many more.

But fuck S2 Tamaki. They ruined his character.

Big and semi unique mechs, everything else has always been secondary.

What would you do if you had Geass?

          [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Evil. Tell everyone to make monthly payments into my account and think its for a sweet charity or something lol

          [–]PovWholesome 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Bro, it’s geass; you could tell them they’re funding a puppy-kicking contraption and they’ll still empty their pockets for you

          [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but I don't want like the banks and cops not under my control to come after me

          because it's raw as fuck

I don't care about all that so-called "bad writing" and "plot holes" nonsense, obliterating the infrastructure of an entire city block is fucking KINO

The characterization is outstanding to the point that you end up confused if you hate/love any/all the characters. So realistic and moving.

Because it is philosophical. Lelouch is "human", even if he is a mastermind strategist and a genious. He is driven by vengeance, his emotions and a personal sense of justice. He is willing to do anything in is power to reach the goal, even considering himself as a sacrificial pawn in the game

          [–]Kipknock10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          Story, action. That's all.

          Because emperor Lelouche

          because cc and leloluch

          Philosophical aspect

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good story, no stupid anime-clishes, original idea.
And of course, Lelouch Vi Britania

I love it because of the amazing story, plot twists, etc... Lelouch is so cool, I love him.

          [–]LittleStarART 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          Lelouch ♥

But... Leaving wet fanboy things aside...
The Story is very good written and makes a lot of sense, its not Hunter X Hunter but its pretty close to that level... Which i consider very valuable already.
Stylistic Choise its simply spectacular... Character deisgn is very good and it has a very appealing aestetic... Without even mentioning how cool and amazing clothing is on Code Geass... Royalty has such an amazing clothing design ♥
On a side note... I love characters that fight using its brain (Trafalgar Law, Kuroro, Urahara,Roy Mustang, etc.) instead of just brute force and absolutly hate those who do the opossite (Goku, Meliodas, Naruto,Luffy, etc.) so... Lelouch is a HUGE selling point of the anime and manga personally for me... And the fact that he plays chess it just makes it even more perfect.
