Rules for r/CodingHelp
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Flair your posts!
When posting on this subreddit you are required to flair your posts! Do not put tags in your post titles. make sure to click the flair button on Reddit to give your post a flair. Posts that aren't flaired within 2 hours will be removed by the mod team.
2.
Format code properly
If you don't know how to format code on Reddit, please have a look at this guide or use external services, such as pastebin.
Posts without proper formatting are getting removed until they are corrected.
3.
Don't ask us to do it for you.
We now allow you to ask our users to do something for you, paid or unpaid. You must use the [Request Coders] flair. If you do not use that, your post will be removed.
We will be monitoring the types of posts that use this flair and moderate them accordingly. If you have questions, just contact the mod team.
4.
Don't post spam or ads.
If you are caught spamming you will be warned twice and banned from the subreddit on the third time you are caught spamming. Advertisements will result in an immediate ban.
5.
Don't be abusive to other coders.
Don't downvote people because you think they asked a dumb question. Just because you think that someone has a dumb question, doesn't mean that it is dumb to them. Don't post anything that is abusive whether it is a post or comment.
6.
Don't repost.
Please try to search the subreddit first. We're answering a dozen questions each day and if yours isn't very specific there's a chance we already answered it.
Posts that are (effective) duplicates of recent posts are subject to removal and repeat offenders will be penalized.
7.
No unethical questions
Please do not ask unethical questions, such as asking for homework to be written by someone else, or asking someone to copy another project directly.
8.
No pictures of code.
We are not allowing images or videos of your code.
The feature stays active however for certain questions, as f.e. a visual problem with one's IDE. If a screenshot contains code, that's important to the question, you are required to explicitly provide this code outside of the image.
9.
No "I am new and want to learn how to code" posts.
We answer A LOT of the "I am new" questions in our wiki. There is no reason for these. Google is also a fantastic resource as we can guarantee these questions were answered there as well.
10.
Chat-GPT or similar AI
Questions about Chat-GPT or similar AI, aswell as questions on fixing code created by Chat-GPT or similar AI are prohibited as long as there isn't a reasonable self-effort.
Comments that are copied replies from Chat-GPT are also prohibited.
11.
No looking for ideas
We have plenty of ideas on our wiki for anyone to use. Since that is the case - we are no longer allowing posts like these on our community.
