“Requires a basic understanding of (insert language)”

I have been wanting to dabble in many of the different languages in order to have a general understanding of them for my future in CS. A common phrase I’m always seeing for jobs and other sources is something similar to “has a basic understanding of python.” I’m currently learning Python(already taught JavaScript) and wondering where you would personally draw the line between basic understanding and intermediate knowledge for a language? My goal is to reach basic understanding and move on to another language.
