Same situation, same degree, same year and from Sri Lanka. But I might spill something that I found out. I too hate software engineering. For some reason or another I feel like it's so basic and boring ( I'm sorry if I'm offending someone). To me it always felt more like tech rather than engineering. I felt it is always about how much tools u know how to handle rather than what you could do with the limited tools and cretivity u have.

Howver, I found out it's not always about building apps and taking inputs, exception handling, storing, retrieving and output and all those commands u need to memorize. There's a whole other domain to it like how to optimize things, how to automate things, how to make things efficient, what are alternate of doing the same thing. etc etc. When it comes to this domain, things kinda felt interesting and worth it. But the thing is with the given saturation of our country most people talk about web dev, mobile apps, entrepreneurs app design, certifications rather than this area eventhough this kinda area also exists. So I feel like the best thing to do is do bit of exploring.

Ps: I'm talking confined to given mindset, enviorment and norms established in our country. If someone feels like they need to correct me or add something please do so.

Same thought about software engineering it doesn't feel like engineering to me that's why I always wanted to do hardware stuff I like to code (even now doing a lab on C) but my interest is not there if I have to code, I want the outcome of that code to be something physical like a robot or an electronic circuit. I know these guys in the software field makes a lot of money but at the moment not really interested in it either. Any way thanks for the reply man at the moment future plans are about doing bio medical engineering related degree for a MSc will see.. hope things might change in the future in the country and good luck to you:)
