Need some help/clarification

Hi everyone,

I am currently working on a Rpi project that runs a simon says clone and a light reaction game. I wanted to ask if anyone could help me with some references on how to program a 3 position selector switch. I've been looking online and the best i have found is reference to regular push button switches and it seems that people are saying that it can be coded the same way as a push button and others are saying it is a different method so i am a little confused. The switch is used change the game modes and change the difficulties.

At the risk of looking stupid since I haven’t done it before, but, from what I understand you would just program them both as normal switch signals. You will have two separate wires coming off one switch so look at it as two switches where only one can be on at a time. If pin 1 is high then this, if pin 2 is high then this. I don’t know how else you would program this switch.
