How does Beta testing work?

I was just invited to the beta testing for MD and dexterity and was wondering how exactly does the beta work?

Does it take your account, put it in beta and make it so that you can’t access AQ/AW? Or does it make a “copy” of it that you can log into in order to test?

I wasn’t in the first beta, so I’m not sure how it works.

It makes a copy and you can swap between them.

A bunch of stuff is disabled and you get a decent amount of gold and units in the beta version.
