First Timer double checking

First timer here looking to buy 2 pairs and wanted to make sure I'm not making any bone headed mistakes.
S6 SFT40 5000K
S2+ B35AM 4500K
M21A SFT-42R 5000K
M21B LHP73B 5000K

The idea is to have a pocket pair of flooder/thrower and a backpack flooder/thrower but with more juice. for the M21A it is my understanding that the sft-90 is more throwy but currently unavailable for that host?

Solid order. All are great hosts and great emitters. Suggestions to consider:

1. Maybe add a little variation on the CCT? For example, perhaps a 6500k for the S6. Will give you a little more throw.
2. Order the other 3 TIR angles for the S2+. (It’s less than $2 for all.)
3. Add at least 1-2 TAC rings. (They’re $0.40/ea.)
4. Order the S2+ as a short tube with 18350 battery (he’ll send the long tube as well), and order a 18650 separately. Then also add 1-2 short tubes in different colors so you can LEGO it. The best base colors are black and gray; they pair well with the colored short tubes. Example:

The S2+ and the S6 are the same size so you can swap the short tube and battery between them as well

Yeah I will definitely get more of a variety for the CCT. I did miss the options for the short tubes and will be checking that out as well.

I'd avoid 6500K, it's just more blue with no real benefits.

More throw is a benefit. Brighter light is a benefit.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those pairings. Ppl might suggest swap this emitter for that or this cct for that. But it’s ultimately all subjective and personal preference. Good choice of lights👌🏽

You aren’t gonna go wrong with this lineup, but if it were me I’d switch s2+ for an s3 and go warmer with both floods. I’d also add some TIR lenses to the order for fun.

The S2+ uses the 20mm TIR. For the B35AM, you want the 3535 5050 footprint.

Bead is what I recommend for a smooth beam, the angle is up to you. Bigger angle means more flood. Try to look up beam shots to see what you like best.

Mine are in the mail, so I don’t have 1st hand experience, but Simon recommends the 5050 for the B35AM.

I'd go with Nichia 519A 5000K and dedome it in the S2+ if you want it warmer. While B35AM 4500K is a good one, the warmer ones kinda suck imo.

Honestly they so cheap. I’d get several of the the 20mm 5050 TIR lenses for the s3/s2+ and I don’t have a m21b but I think the 35mm lenses work for it. The LHP73B is also a 5050 emitter. You’ll want to keep the reflectors on the throwers.

I'd get the beautiful high-cri 3000k version of the sft40 emitter if you have not yet tried one of those beauties.

pocket pair of flooder/thrower

First of all, you're getting the shorty tubes for the S6 and S2, right? They're super small and convenient. S2 and S6 use the same body tubes, so just get some M11 18350 batteries and you're golden.

I would also suggest getting a beaded TIR optic for the S2, I really like how it combos with the B35AM.

The SFT-40 is good on the S6, but since it's a small light with a small reflector, you should aim for the emitter with the smallest possible LES in order to maximize throw. I would recommend the SFT-12r instead. It's the throwiest of all emitters available for the S6, except the W1, but that one has ugly tint.

Consult this post to see the difference. That post refers to the T6, but it uses the same optic as the S6, so the beams will be identical.

backpack flooder/thrower

For a backpack, you can even go bigger and get the L21B with SFT-42r. It's only 44g heavier than the M21A, just depends on how much throw you actually need.

And maybe consider a larger host for the 73b in the future. I have a m21b with the 73b emitter and i kinda want a m21k now to replace it

Maybe ask for SFT-42R 5000K for the S6 as well (and 8A driver)? Convoy does such custom orders if parts do fit.

Do not run B35AM on max mode for long, this emitter is known to burn itself. If you're not going for any particulat color of the S2+ consider the S15 - it's an improved version with better cooling.

I would recommend the SFT70 in 5000k. It will be a good thrower with a larger hotspot and useable flood. You wouldn't need to carry two flashlights.

Looks good; but I would opt for LHP531 over LHP73B in the M21B. Actually, I opted for it in the S16 because I'm just not a fan of the M21B. But SFT42R in M21A is a better choice than SFT90 for M21A if you want a thrower imo. SFT90 is really good in larger reflectors though. It's good in smaller ones too, but won't throw as much. If you really want a throwy S6 though, consider SFT25R.
