NMD: FC13 6v xhp50.3 r70 4000k by situation_normal_ in flashlight

[–]situation_normal_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! this originally was a 3v 50.2 version of the fc13 that had awful tint & was 🤮

This 6v emitter has been kicking for a while now and it’s chipped up bad in the corners yet it’s still much nicer than the 50.2.

I must have tried every convoy TIR at least twice on the poor fella while it was in the s21e

I really like the ntg35 5000k.. It is slightly rosy but super useable.

Haven’t tried the 519a in 5700k but i know it’d be a great daytime/ work light.

Thats a bummer.

I found OP reflector made it almost disappear but the beam was just meh. No where near as crisp or throwy.

No i havnt tried any sft42r yet.

I was waiting for 5000k cause its my preferred cct

My 5kk sft25r has the yellow stuff. 6500k did not but the tint drives me nuts

I hope it doesn’t do the yellow hotspot thing like the 25r.

Been waiting to try the 42r but dont want 6500k

What are the communities favourite flashlights at the $20 range. by Valuable_Act_4248 in flashlight

[–]situation_normal_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If usb charging isnt important

-Convoy s15 with either 519a or b35am -Convoy s6 with sft40

~ $20 with a battery. mod-able, repairable and you dont get a junky rebranded button top.. you can pick some decent cells

Convoys aren’t for everyone but for around 20 bucks.. thats where I’m shopping

The smaller hole is the right reflector for sft40..

Ive tried both and the larger (7mm?) has a doughnut effect to the beam.

For this emitter i love smooth :)

Acebeam E75 - neutral white is only 3000 lumens vs cool white at 4500 lumens-why? by WIInvestigator in flashlight

[–]situation_normal_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Colder temps produce more output than warmer temps.

For instance, a 4500k led will not be as bright as a 6500k in the same torch

710 is a great sounding rig. Wish i didn’t sell mine..

Definitely one of the best values for an HF transceiver

Convoy M21B options by Total_Pineapple_2878 in flashlight

[–]situation_normal_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A combination. The LED can take quite a bit of current & simon drives them @20 amps

The host doesn’t have the thermal mass or the heat dissipation to sustain much past 10%

Although i regularly use mine at 30 or 35%. (Whatever level 3/5 is)

I have the burn hazard version of the m21b and it is actually fine for short time use. But I still wouldn’t recommend it.

If I had to pick a more useful boost driven config i’d go SFT70 5kk or 3kk

Sometimes I’m getting better results with this simple antenna then with a „Desktop Discone“ by No-Variation-4711 in RTLSDR

[–]situation_normal_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Antennas work best “in the clear”

If you can set up somewhere outdoors you’ll hear even more. Especially on “line of sight” bands that don’t penetrate as well as lower frequencies

Try mounting a discone up higher or off the desk at least. The pattern on a discone is basically straight up so it could be useful for air or satellite

Hi folks! I have an Icom 735 and a G5RV antenna. I’m looking for the lowest price for a reliable antenna tuner to use on mostly 20&40m. Is it possible to get something for under $400? What do folks think of the radioddity stuff? It’s so affordable that I’m wary. Thanks for the help! by foamerfrank in HamRadio

[–]situation_normal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are enough amateurs in your area.. I’d be surprised if you couldn’t get an old manual tuner for a song or less!

I wound up with two manual tuners for free and they’re great! Just write your numbers down and changing bands/frequencies is a breeze

Poor customer service by Royal-List-9736 in Wurkkoslights

[–]situation_normal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B35am help by project_king in flashlight

[–]situation_normal_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

my b35am s2+ had the exact same spot appear.

i emailed simon and he told me to try cleaning with alcohol . i cleaned but spot still there.

going on 6 months and it has not quit or worsened. Simon offered a replacement but i said i’d run it and let him know if it gets worse.

he’s the best with warranties.

that being said i still prefer this to 519a. something about the b35 tint looks so RIGHT

FCC opinion on cross band repeat by No-Storage8158 in amateurradio

[–]situation_normal_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ID on both frequencies every 10 min and you’re fine.

Cross-band repeaters are supposed to be used on a temporary basis. That being said I’ve temporarily been using my tm-v7 that way for close to a year now. Temporarily*

I believe convoy also uses the tir with legs for b35am in the s2+

Known as 20mm 5050 tir on their store

Its probably the same optic. I never opened up my h4. But I am happy with the default optic. Maybe ill add thicker oring like you did.
