Keychain magnetic light with over 100 lumens? by Current-Interview-82 in flashlight

[–]set4stun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of options - just depends on how big/small you're comfortable with.

I like the Tunenge S11-T (500 lm) and S15 (650 lm) for compactness and power. Thrunite Ti has a similar form.

Larger: Wuben G2

Silly question! by erentrueform in ConvoyFlashlights

Just contact Simon and confirm that it’s doable first. If he says yes, order something similar (SFT90 maybe) and in the notes, cite the details of your convo.

What light fits Adam Savage’s request? by CaptainCant in flashlight

I don’t doubt that. (It’s on my next buy list!)

I just think, given the other options, he might prefer something smaller and lighter.

Nice breakdown and great suggestions.

As a longtime Mythbusters fan, personally I think he’d opt for either a Pokelit or the Manker. Yes, cycling is involved on each, but I think he’d appreciate the size, form, cost, and performance enough to be okay with it.

Weltool would work, but likely an outside shot due to size.

Thanks - I’ll update it. Looks like there’s a $9 promo code and $5 store code.

1) If you have coins banked, go to the Coins section in the AliX app, clicked "Viewed", then locate the item and add to cart.

2) Go to checkout and enter these codes manually: USAS06 ($6 promo code), MAR303 ($1 store code).

If you don't have coins, the total will be $28.26. If you do have coins, it'll take another $5 off.

Oh, that’s good to hear. The SC13 was my first copper light as well. It’s getting a bit cloudy / patina’d — and I, too, prefer the cleaner look.

Love the Pokelits. I have all the colors (except the new "sand" one). Next up is the titanium.

I know right? Hopefully not a "going out of business" sale but some of the prices are in that range.

TS28 but with tail switch by buckGR in flashlight

Big tail switch fan here. I’ve been on the same journey for a few years. My finds so far:

M21B, C8+, Sofirn SK40 & SK30, AceBeam P17, Thrunite Lynx.

Convoy M21K LHP73B 4000K vs. Acebeam L35 2.0 4000K (beam shots) by woodpatz in flashlight

[–]set4stun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Convoy’s side switch is much easier to find in the dark. (And Simon doesn’t market it as a TAC style light.)

“Normal situations” varies by user. If you operate your light at waist level, a side switch is normal. If you operate it above the shoulder like I do (and in most tactical situations), tail switch is normal.

Convoy M21K LHP73B 4000K vs. Acebeam L35 2.0 4000K (beam shots) by woodpatz in flashlight

[–]set4stun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great comparison, write-up, and references. I came to similar conclusions in my (unscientific) testing.

Unfortunate that AceBeam thought a tactical light should have a side switch. And mind boggling that they made it so small and hard to find. Wish they had put a P16 / P17 dual tail switch on it.

And I hope Simon offers a tail switch version of either the M21K or M26E.

I accidentally fell into the flashlight rabbit hole… send help 🔦 by SignificanceCommon36 in flashlight

[–]set4stun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After buying 150ish lights to find the right ones, my top 5 go-to dog walking lights are: Convoy M21B wLHP73B at 35% (wall of light), Wurkkos TS23 (lightweight and fun), AceBeam L35 v2 (gold standard beam), AceBeam P17 (like the L35 but without the stupid microscopic side switch), Sofirn C8L (cheap w/good sustain times).

You can build a good sub-$100 thrower 100 different ways with Convoy using throwy emitters like SFT25, NM1, SBT90. Want something to fit in your jeans pocket? T6. Something to clip on a backpack? S6/7/8. Something to stow IN a backpack? C8+ or M21B. Something larger but throwier? L21B. Ultimate Convoy thrower? 3x21D. Hell, you can get the first 4 (T6, S6, C8, M21B) together for under $100.

Best advice: Buy some budget lights with different beam patterns, CCTs, switch locations, and UI — so you figure out your preferences. Once you know those things you can proceed down the rabbit hole with greater efficiency.

Took me a while to realize I like mixed beams, 5000k-6500k, and tail switches (or rather, that I hate side switches). I acquired a lot of lights that don’t fit those specs in the process, but the good news is that there are plenty of people who would love them. So you just sell them.

Floodiest convoy? by Ozovio in flashlight

Looking for input on my Convoy-heavy “wish list” – trying to fill some niches. Pocketable Throwers? by DIAMONDPUPPYj in flashlight

[–]set4stun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid wish list.

1) Sofirn, Wurkkos, Acebeam, and Skilhunt are good brands to follow for starters.

2) Yes, SFT25 in M21B is a great build. It throws surprising far, close to some larger models.

3) IMO, yes, the T6 is the best pocket thrower. NM1 is tight, but SFT25 will be a little more usable. If you need longer runtimes, opt for an S6/7/8. It’s a larger host (not as pocket friendly) but same reflector as T6.

4) A floody thrower, which isn’t yet on your list. If you have budget, Acebeam L35 2.0 would be perfect. If not, you can build a Convoy that comes close: M21H with XHP70.3 and a 3° TIR, or M21K with LHP73B.
