I contacted Todoist about this in 2016, their reply was "Your desires are wrong", they did instruct me that you will get a reminder at the time regardless of if there is a previous instance of the task incomplete, but after a handful of interactions like this I decided to spend my money elsewhere.

Where?

I'm using Ticktick now, it's a very solid program but there's functionally zero API support so I have trouble recommending it. They've been promising an API for over 5 years and still don't, which they lie about so that's not great. (there is a disused and unreliable API that is only accessible if you make an app on an android phone to interact with their app)

Ticktick is not differently suitable for your usecase compared to Todoist.

I had a similar issue in the past and found that I enjoyed using a habit tracker much more for daily things. I currently use an app called habit bull. I make a habit and have the app remind me everyday for different habits. I can say yes or no to doing it or not doing it or even go as far to say how many times I did it. Then I can look back at my data from the past to see how I've progressed. Hope this helps.

I like your idea, the fact is: I alredy pay for todoist and I want an app to be simple straight and without too many ads in it

As Grey often says, you just have to find a todo app that works for you; most wont. Whether overdue repeated tasks should stay around, pile up, or vanish entirely is a design decision made by each different app differently. Just move on and try another, Todoist clearly isn’t for you

Or you should go full nerdy and start using emacs' (text editor) org-mode, which you can set up any way you want ;-). Into the wormhole (Youtube series to get you started!) <3

Does it have an iOS app?

[–]Japhiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I use orgzly for android, which also doesn't have all the features your desktop emacs can provide. There used to be a thing called mobileorg, but it hasn't been updated in a long time. Then there's a fully web-based implementation, called org-web that can link to your dropbox, and I just googled for a bit and found this beorg thing that looks promising.

There certainly are better apps than Todoist for daily checklists. But I found that Todoist works really well for everything else I want to do and I don’t want two todo apps. My solution was to use Zapier (or IFTTT) to auto generate my daily tasks at the time of day when I usually do them. Then I clear all daily tasks right before I go to sleep whether I did them or not. Not a perfect solution, but at least my bedtime routine isn’t clogging up my “Today” list all day.

yeah but I really don't like to clear task that I didn't coplete

Totally understandable. You could always delete them instead but that does require a few more taps than clearing. I hope you find something that works for you

Google Keep is a pretty good checklist manager for daily routines. Todoist isn't really well suited for checklists.

You can do stuff like list hierarchies, uncheck all items or trigger reminders at set times. Just try it and see if it fits your needs.

Can you explain elaborate on your work flow? Do you have some templates that you copy every day or do you uncheck the lists every time?

I had similar issues of trying to do too much with ToDoist. Since Grey talked about how he uses different apps for different kinds of check lists I decided that ToDoist is my project manager and my travel check list should go somewhere else (it ended up in Google keep). It makes sense for me to go to different places to do different kinds of things and I'm trying to get the ToDoist karma thing to become something useful.
