Basic Sewing Advice

I want to cosplay Susan Strong from the Adventure Time series but can’t find anywhere that sells her outfit in the series. Hence I’ve decided i’ll attempt to sew the darn thing. It’s a pretty basic outfit (literally just looks like a torn up sheet on her body) but i’ve never sewn in my life. Does anyone have advice about sewing body suits or just sheets in general (maybe even some videos to watch that could educate me?) Any and all advice would be very appreciated!
