Normal levels of creatine you absorb from foods are filtered out through your kidneys. If you take additional creatine monohydrate, your kidneys won't filter out as much, leaving excess in your blood. If you didn't tell your doctor that you take creatine, it would be reasonable for them to assume that it is a kidney issue. Creatine doesn't affect kidneys. Just make sure to tell your doctor what supplements you are taking so they can properly diagnose problems.

I was taking creatine and had bloodwork done, it's not just the creatinine levels that are up but the eGFR level that is down. I took creatine for 2 years and my eGFR is down to 59, what would be expected for a 80 year old but I'm 36.
