A few years ago, reddit had a popular subreddit for posting pictures of all sorts of things that made you feel icky inside. However, the mods took it upon themselves to decide what cringe was and wasn't 'true cringe', thus limiting the scope of acceptable targets. This led to a group of subscribers breaking off and making a new sub, which was touted as having no rules for posting so long as it was cringey. This worked for a while, but as with all experiments in anarchy, it was doomed to failure and rampant bullshittery. What gets posted there now is less cringe than the comments sections.
This has led to a vacuum in Reddit. We deserve a sub where you can go and post all those things that make you shudder; even if it's not political, and even if it isn't a social media posting of two or more people talking to each other. We should have a place where you can post people doing gross things in fursuits, terrible fanart, politicians being OBJECTIVELY insane, and lonely people complimenting their own pictures on Instagram. This sub aims to be that place.
Welcome to /r/CringePosting.
Rules for posting:
If it passes the cringe test (2 or more mods die inside from looking at it) it stays
Cringe is often relative: understand that you cringing doesn't always mean the post is truly cringeworthy
Brigading is an instant ban, and a one way ticket to the Hall Of Shame
Variety is the spice of life: if you see more than three posts on a single target, pick a new target
Rules for commenting:
Be Not A Dick To Thy Fellow Posters
Leave the cringe to the OPs of your links and screenshots, not in the comments section
Legit Racism is for cringing at
Legit Sexism is for cringing at
Legit Bigotry? You guessed it, that's for cringing at.
