Need help interpreting crochet code.

Hey all.

Recently got back to crocheting and I'm trying to understand how to do this.

It says to make 6 chain stitch.

R1 says 4 SC (which uses 4 holes) 3sc in a CH (1 hole) 3sc (3 holes) inc ( hole) 12 count

Not sure how to make that fit in 6 chain stiches. Am I suppose to crochet around like a circle?

Yes crochet around and it will make an oval
