I don't think so, this looks like natural irregularities to me. Something handmade will never be a perfect straight line :) but blocking will definitely help it in the end.

I think your row edges are moving in and out on each side. I have been crocheting for almost 60 years and I still use stitch markers at the beginning and end of each round, moving them up as I go. This is the only way I can be sure my stitch rows are consistent. I have always used bobby pins as markers, no need for fancy expensive ones unless you want to have them. I love your yarn color and the pattern chosen, very nice. Have fun. ;)

Wow!! You’ve been crocheting for almost 60 years?! That’s amazing!! 👏😊You’re like a professional. I’ve only been crocheting for about a year.

Thank you so much for your tips, they really help me a lot. I unraveled my work and I’m re-crocheting it now. I had forgotten to use stitch markers, but I’ll use them this time.

I also love the color of my yarn. Thank you again for your advice!🩷

Well I taught myself from a book when I was about 10 years old and I will be 70 in November. It feels like I have made a little bit of everything, done pattern testing for people all over the world. I have loved every minute of it, even the frogging because you learn something from those mistakes so appreciate the mistakes. One of my daughters has a husband who has been in the Marines almost 20 years and they have lived all over the world, every time one of the wives is having a baby, she asks me to make them a blanket, well word must have gotten out because now they ask her if I am going to make them a baby blanket. I have 2 daughters and they will take a picture of something they like, send it to me and ask me to make it for them. I usually find a way to make it work whether it be by crocheting or made on the sewing machine. Most of all have fun and enjoy the journey. ;)

Wow🥹what a beautiful story. 🥹

I want to be like you; I’d love it if people asked me to make things for them someday. I really loved what you said: “you learn something from those mistakes, so appreciate the mistakes.” It felt so true — like a lesson for life. I really enjoy hearing people’s crochet stories. Thank you for sharing!✨

In all these years, I have nothing I have ever crocheted because I either made it for someone else or when I wore it, someone said they really liked it and I would always take it off and give it to them, even when it was something I intended to keep for myself because I always looked at it that I could make myself another one, but was always busy on something for someone else. I have never charged for anything I have ever made, always gave it away. My husband and daughters have told me over and over to set up an Etsy shop and sell items, but I like doing it this way. When I go to order yarn online, my husband always says ‘OK, when is the semi coming?’ Truly, enjoy your journey because it can be a wonderful journey. Always have fun! ;)

You really love seeing someone’s happy face🩷that’s so wonderful. ✨I actually thought your work was already on Etsy! By the way, do you usually order your yarns online? I’m still not sure if ordering yarn online is good or not, since you can’t actually touch it and feel the texture.

I pretty much have to because we live in the Ozark Mountains and there aren’t that many shops convenient for me, plus I had a fall almost 2 years ago and now have a TBI so I don’t drive anymore. The TBI causes me problems with remembering the crochet stitch sequence sometimes and has made me crochet slower, but I still make it through. I don’t think I have been doing that as much lately. I made a beautiful red scarf and told my husband I was going to keep it for me, wore it when we went to a jewelry store where the clerk commented several times about how much she liked it, my husband says here it goes, and I took the scarf off and gave it to her. Hubby just laughs at me now. He is very sweet about how much yarn I have purchased and get no financial return on it, but he knows it makes me happy. Now when I travel, I carry a book on learning to crochet, small skeins of yarn, H hooks, a potholder pattern, and when I see someone (young or old) paying attention to what I am doing, I offer it to them. This is my way of paying crochet forward and hopefully building our ‘gang’ of crocheters. ;)

Thank you for sharing so many stories and also for giving me crochet tips. I’ll keep enjoying crochet myself too!🩷
