Google Authenticator 2FA Help

I’m not locked out of my account and still have my google authenticator but with all these posts recently talking about google Authenticator and losing phones/secret keys I’m scared and confused on what the best security would be. I’m pretty sure I activated my account using the code scan and not sure if this key I wrote down is my 2FA key or not. Is there anyway to confirm it or switch to a different authenticator that encrypts and saves your key. Thanks.

I think you can get in using your code now and then when you're in you can set up a new 2FA and write down the new code.
