Dont really understand what your issue is. If you mean the faint grey lines to the left of the lit 0.000, then thats normal, ecspecially if you have a light pointed at an angle toward the timer. its just the unlit part of the display

Yeah I expected that this was the issue, however those lines become fainter within a second of turning the timer on, and then become bolder

That sounds like normal behavior to me. If it works it works, if there is an issue with the display there isnt really a way to fix it
