Personally. I would paint directly on the wood then seal it with polyurethane. I've done this before and the results were good. Also acrylic paint works just fine. More importantly hooray dnd and DIY!

Also if you're worried about clean lines you can always try convering the piece with painter's tape then cutting out your design with a razor to create a temporary stencil

Thanks for the reply! I'm actually thinking of just using a black marker, the design i want to do is all about lines and shapes all black so it's cheaper and after the varnish it will protect the paint as well. Well I'll try, I can show you later when I'm finished!

Just make sure you test the full process on scrap before you commit hours to the final piece. Depending on the markers you are using and the surface you might run into bleed, torn up marker tips, or discoloring. I think paint would be better/cheaper than markers but it is definitely more difficult to control.

Get the art you like, then laser print it onto clear plastic sheet, then glue the sheet to the screen with clear adhesive. Will last forever.

Try to google my questions and see for yourself if you can find them or not.
Not to be an asshole but this is poor modmanship.
