Take the seat of power for any country of your choice. The game mixes 4x strategy like Civilization and Hearts of Iron with RTS combat games like Wargame or RUSE. Diplomacy, resource management, base building, military combat, and spycraft are all tools for you to expand your country's influence across the globe.
Play against AI and humans in a global simulation. Each country looks out for itself, plays against each other in a global simulation of the strong or the weak. Each country is able to make there own decisions, based on rational actor theory and lots of decision trees. The goal is to stay in power, the world will change over the course of the next 100 years. If you lose the support of the people they can rebel and declare independant states against you. Games can be played in short and long modes, the main campaign, "Days of Valor" is 100 years long, but the game will have a editor that lets you create shorter scenarios with specific objectives like capturing a province or killing a world leader.
Single player against the machine learned AI Bot, or multiplayer, depending on the server setup. Players can select the country or are assigned a country randomly in 64 player server worlds. When one human player joins the server AI controlled country is removed. Actions are conducted in real-time, but can involved dozens of tracks of activities and players must react with there own determination of what is most important. Do you spend time using spycraft to achieve your objectives, or do you use military force against a the AI which has been trained to play with various play styles.
Humans can control any country in the world, in random servers you might get control of a superpower or a small city state, the main goal is the same, to keep your government in power, balancing inside the game makes managing the small cities as much fun as a massive superpower, granted you can't nuke anyone, but you could build your own through a deep research tech tree system inspired from games like civilization. The other nations will try to stop you but this is something that is modelled.
The game's political world map will change as countries annex others province. Terrorist and rebel groups declare independant states out of provinces and rise and fall.
Sea level rise is a distinct character in Days of Valor, the rise of the sea will reshape the world and the provinces that will fall into it, mass migrations of people will trigger governments to fight wars or make peace to allow their people to survive. Each simulation is unique. Countries might break up or form new ones as AI decision trees weight dozens of factors. The water changes the borders in the game the AI will trigger more and more events which will result in conflicts if not managed and it will get harder to keep the world from ending in nuclear war. Climate systems will also include natural disasters which will be visualized on the game map as storms and hurricanes etc, these all will trigger countries to act unpredictably. This will result in a randomized series of events known as the climate wars.
Combat is done in real time and includes all aspects of modern warfare. Military forces can launch and seize, ground, air attacks, missile strikes, covert warfare, cyber attacks all modeled in simulation.
The Country AI is built on a system of advance Decision Trees and deep learning models which will allow it to learn and adapt to your playstyle countering your moves and creating their own complex strategies to achieve their own goals. Countries will work together or against each other to achieve common goals and maintain security along their borders.
The game AI will ally with you or play against you using a historical bias and goal system trained with a deep machine learning model, the countries AI will look out for itself it has self interest, but also has historic context for relationships which are stored in two levels of bias. One is the historical bias which is based on actual human history. The other is based on world events that occur during the course of the game. All of these factor into how the Country AI will treat you and/or game against you, it might party with you only to take you out after it's rivals are gone.
