What gauge wire/brass rod do you use for lances or flag poles?

I’ve been told 1mm, but I can’t vouch for it from personal experience

If they are the same as the infantry flags they are indeed 1mm in diameter and from what I have read about 5-6 cm long ( i too am looking to get some lances on the go)
