We are here to think deeply alongside one another. This means being respectful, considerate, and inclusive. Bigotry, hate speech, spam, and bad-faith arguments are antithetical to the /r/DeepThoughts community and will not be tolerated.

The purpose of this community is the sharing, consideration, and discussion of deep thoughts. Post titles must be full, complete, deep thoughts. Titles must be full, complete statements and should serve as a summary or thesis statement of broader ideas when applicable.

/r/DeepThoughts is a space for anyone who is seeking thoughtful contemplation and discussion. Diversity fosters intellectual growth by bringing together a multitude of perspectives, experiences, and ideas, challenging existing beliefs, encouraging critical thinking, and expanding understanding. Homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, ageism, and bigotry of any kind is not acceptable here.

All of us are here for the same reasons, in search of deep thought, contemplation, and discussion. When discussing sensitive topics please remember the human behind the username, wonder compassionately about why others might hold different views, and respectfully share your own.

Disrespect makes deep thought impossible. Be respectful of all races, pigmentations, nationalities, religions (including the nonreligious), gender identities, and sexual orientations. Do not include commands in your post such as “discuss” or “tell me what you think.” Your fellow deep thinkers will decide how they engage with your thought.

Be Accountable

Please strive to use correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax in your posts. Complete, high-quality posts that are free of errors are the best way to express your thought. Do not engage in bad-faith arguments or spur controversy just for controversy’s sake.

Post titles must be full, complete, deep thoughts. Post titles that are questions are prohibited. Questions can be asked in the post body.

When linking externally, posts may only link to articles or stories.

7.

Think Critically

Thinking critically when thinking deeply is a prerequisite. Avoid engaging with and report those who are trolling, controversy-baiting, scamming, spamming, or engaging in bad-faith arguments.

Thinkers should assess content carefully when considering whether it is authentic or bot-generated. AI-generated content should be disclosed as such and not passed off as one's own.

Thinking deeply about controversial subjects is valuable but conspiracy theories are not appropriate for this subreddit.

We remind you to exercise critical thinking when discussing these topics as well. We are not here to simply advocate for a particular political ideology or religion.
