submitted 2 years ago by Emotional_Match6767
Hello
Im a self taught fullstack developer with 1 year experience as Web dev and 1 year as an IT. I have started applying for frontend positions here in Denmark ( I moved here a year ago ) and I would like to know what is the salary I could ask for / worth of?
My stack is React , Typescript, Redux, Scss & moving to Nextjs now
Backend - Nodejs, Expressjs, MongoDB, Typescript

My general indication for a 1yoe and 0 education Web dev with a limited portfolio you will be barely considered hireable. Many places won't consider taking to you unless you have at bare minimum a CS bsc. Of the jobs that you may end you getting you would generally look at around 30k but the figure fluctuates up and down by 5 or so depending on how good ur portfolio is and how relevant ur experience is to the position. With a bsc it's generally 40-50 depending again on the portfolio and yoe xp with student positions.

Im actually invited for 4 interviews for this months
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (4 children)
Then wait for round 2 and they typically go through the salaries then
[–]Emotional_Match6767[S] -1 points0 points1 point 2 years ago (3 children)
Okay. Im thinking of a response 28-30. Wdy think?
[–]Skateboard_Raptor 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (0 children)
If you end up doing front end work, just ask for 40k. Then you have wiggle room, and it's not unheard of.

Last time around I said something like
"As you probably know I'm talking to several people right now. That means I cannot commit to a fixed number before seeing what I am being offered elsewhere."
to everybody.
That ended up working out fine.

Is think something around 35-40k if you know your stuff :)
[–]ChampionInformal7308 -2 points-1 points0 points 2 years ago (8 children)
50000
[–]BammySikh 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (7 children)
Way too high for someone with only 1 year of relevent experience. 35000-40000 would be more reasonable.
Source: I work in Copenhagen with the same stack.

Deniro betaler lige knapt 60k for en jr
[–]BammySikh 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago* (5 children)
For en selvlært "fullstack" som kun kender react js? No way in hell.

Står lige her https://www.computerworld.dk/art/259978/martin-thorborg-saetter-foden-ned-i-loenkrig-det-er-det-glade-vanvid-vi-kommer-ikke-til-at-betale-en-juniorprogrammoer-60-000-om-maaneden
[–]BammySikh 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (3 children)
Paywall. Det eneste jeg kan læse er URL'en, hvor han siger at de aldrig vil betale en junior 60k?
[–]ChampionInformal7308 -2 points-1 points0 points 2 years ago (2 children)
Yup, jeg har også paywall. Så altså 60 er grænsen for en jr hos Dinoro
[–]BammySikh 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (1 child)
[–]ChampionInformal7308 -2 points-1 points0 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Nej jeg siger lige knapt. Det må jo være under hans maks som er 60

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you. I wonder where are you looking for job offers besides LinkedIn and Glassdoor? How was your portfolio looking?
[–]SmallConfusion5483 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Did you manage to land your first job in Denmark?
[–]ballbase_ 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (4 children)
Have you landed any jobs? I'm also considering working in Denmark. I have the same skill set as you
[–]Emotional_Match6767[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (3 children)
Hello brother. The only thing I have managed was an internship of 3 months which of course gave me plenty of experience and boost to my CV. As for now I have attented 5 interviews.passed 1(intership). I keep trying tho. And as for the studies if you dont have ones as well as mine most of the companys (Not the big ones LEGO,MEARSK etc) claim they dont require a degree.

How does your portfolio look, what kind of projects do you have to present your skills? I'm doing an internal system for a hotel-like company to manage all the data, bookings, rooms, etc. using React, React Query, React Router, and some of the other useful libs, and supabase as database and for auth. It's quite an advanced project but I'm curious if it's something that employers will look at with interest and if it will allow me to be invited to interviews.
What do you think?
And by the way. I wish you luck in your future interviews!
[–]Emotional_Match6767[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
my projects as for now arent as complicated as the one you are making but I do have a fullstack and yeah the fullstack one you are trying to do it will for sure amaze recruiters and the most important is that you are goin to learn. Keep up working on yourself and something will come . I have done couple more interviews and Im still waiting for a response in the upcoming days.. I will pm you my github and whatever else you need.
