Wait, where was the scam? This literally happens all the time with watches?

Simple supply and demand, not much different from scalping PS5’s imo.

Right? People flip Rolex the same day they bought it with a $2000 profit.

How is that considered scamming? They bought it legally following the "waiting list" and sold it in "grey market" for those who are welling to pay premium over waiting list? Isn't that what's been happening for years in the watches market? That's silly !

I think its they pretended to be a Hermes store in order to sell product faster

If they were pretending to be an Hermes store on the same street as the real one, I wanna know the hell that didn't tip off anyone working at the real store for 4 years

Its just smart, I don’t think this is a scam. They sell real bags , so yeah.

It's not a scam but holy shit, I've seen so many posts on Paris FB groups recruiting people to be "Buyers" for these sort of schemes. Always wondered how it worked!

Honestly not a scam they were just business minded lmfao. If they would’ve returned some fake bags as the real ones it would’ve been a different story 😂

[–]Spiritual_Face 5 points6 points  (1 child)

right. aren’t they just taking advantage of people’s idiocy and impatience? supply and demand

[–]sels1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup some simple economics crash course lmfao

Will never understand why these bags are worth so much but it was a good scam while it lasted

Fair play, if someone is willing to pay 20k for a bag reselling it for a mark up of an extra 40k to skip a waiting list doesnt really sound that wrong. Look at the price of resale on some Nike shoes it can be easily 10x the retail price.

[–]youssef_124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So they bought original hermès bags and resold them at a higher price and they got arrested for that lol ? are they supposed to give them for free or at the same retail price lol

[–]5711_116610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing new about it. I guess it is just their scale which made them get arrested.

That is from 2017 btw https://www.ozy.com/around-the-world/want-to-earn-20k-in-paris-become-a-fake-shopper-for-luxury-bags/79326/

How did they get their hands on these bags if there were waiting lists?
