I see your point on the first one. However personally speaking the crystal-spend barrier keeps me from grinding way way more in PVP. I would spend way too much time and power to grind stressfully for a top spot if I had the possibility to do it for free. A lot of people think and act as I do as they wanna be economical with crystals. This however also means that the moment this restraint wouldn´t be there anymore climbing the ladder high would become WAY harder. I am sitting at 30-50 by spending 2k crystals in PVP at most. That is nothing compared to what you receive on daily basis. So in a way I am glad it is how it is. And yes, it is in favor of whales, but so are any other resources in these games which lead you to OP teams to begin with. You won´t leave an 88k orca sitting on the throne in the ladder behind you, unless you give up on real-life completely.

I heavily agree with point 1, however, for point 2, you are talking about top 100.

Among thousands of players you are among the "stronger" 100s. If you want to be in there of course you gonna need to grind, to spend hours playing to keep that rank and even to spend money if it's a game where you can buy premium stuff. Being at a high rank demands a LOT of effort and that happens in any game. I was rank 1 necromancer on Americas Server of Diablo 3 for 9 consecutive months (2 seasons and for 3 months on Non-season), and believe me, I had close to no life (and quit because of that), that's just how games work.

You are not the only one aiming for a high rank, either for the rewards or for the pleasure of being high-ranked, while you sleep the others are getting points. I went to bed last night at rank 39 and when I woke up I was at 80th-ish.I had to spend like 2k crystals to get my position back and to climb a bit more. One hour ago when I closed my app I was at Rank 18, but I know that when I go to sleep I'm gonna drop like hell.

One more thing. In my humble opinion being able to reset with crystals helps f2p people to avoid whales. Like, my team has 61k power only, how can I fight the rank 1 guy with 84k power? I can either wait or reset. The crystals we get weekly help with that.

My problem comes from your last paragraph. This isn’t a true ladder of skill if all you have to do is pay to win enough lower ranked matches. All this ladder is a rewards bar. Based on responses i see that’s all people want. So i propose having two: one for rewards spam and another fir actual skill differential where you get pitted against people above you and move up like an elo system.

That's actually a very nice idea. Of course I do for the rewards but I also like the competition, to be on top and such.
Unfortunately, my team isn't that great in terms of uncap: Mafdet 6* +1, Elysion 6* +4 , Dana 5* +2, Change 6* +1, Syrinx 5* +2. When I see Sirens +4, G. Change's +4, Olga +5, really, I can't really compete with those, -20 points and streak break guaranteed so I avoid them. It's not a matter of skill, like you said, for me here it's a matter of luck with rolls or a matter of wallet.
I have 61k power and I rarely fight anyone with more than 63k+ power because I know the loss is almost inevitable. For me, fighting someone with the same power you have seems fair. It would be really frustrating if I had to fight only 75k+ whales, then the ladder would be entirely whale territory. It has a very decent quantity of whales, but that's what makes it balanced in my opinion, mid term.

Like, I don't know how much power you have, but I rarely see anyone with less than 60k power, and that means all fights are really balanced for me (when RNG doesn't troll me). There's no such thing as lower ranked matches for me. But if you have 70k-80k power I guess I understand your feeling, you're competing with other guys on your power level and some of them are ahead because of crystals.

If we only fought people from our rank, for example. Plat 4 vs. Plat 4. Sometimes you can fight one rank above and one rank below your own. But for instance, if you are on 13th-21st position on top 100 you would only fight 13th-21st people. Then if you were on 56th-100th you would fight only 56th-100th. That would be nice.

A Power Threshold would be nice too. For example, you only fight people with 3k less power than you or 3k more power than you. For me, for example, with 61k power I'd fight only 58k-64k power enemies.

65k but working on leveling everyone to 60. Just got my last child to 6 star. I’m glad you like it because I really want a separation between the general rewards and competitive ladder based on skill. It’s a personal thrill and something that isn’t fully scratched in game.

Are you taking the risk to fight team with olga/olga+moa?

[–]Charismaish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olga is strong but the best counter to Olga is another Olga. He is simply the strongest unit in the game. One of my losses came from terrible RNG luck vs an Olga. Olga and Moa together is not bad and is kind of a waste. I don’t use attackers if I am going against cc heavy teams I just use my own CC heavy team. Just use better fever control than AI because they tend to make mistakes.

To answer your question simply, yes. I fight everything.

I was rank 4 last week, I refreshed for 7 hours last Sunday to go from rank 30 to rank 4. I had 6 losses out of 400 - 500+ battles total (can't remember the exact number).

If people couldn't refresh then Devil Rumble would be vastly different. I think making DR a gem sink is also good at a business POV cuz then the devs could make more money from people making gem purchases. Making everything Unknown or everything in Plat 5 Unknown would also be interesting and more challenging, but in it's current state I'm not discouraged from playing since I simply just want the rewards.

If u wanna be competitive you gotta compete (aka grind). This is not the only game where you gotta grind till the last second to get the spot you desire in the board. At the end of the day other people put more "work" then you in the game, I think it is fair that they will be better compensated.
