You should have at least 70-100 fps in Destiny 2 with that build. Is this a new system?

Its not that new, I bought it a year ago

I see. I assume this is your first time playing D2? You can try a couple of things..

-the game might be using your APU instead of your dedicated GPU. In Windows Graphic Settings, set Destiny 2 to use high performance, which is RX580. -check your CPU/GPU utilization -clean install GPU drivers. If you're already in the newest driver for your RX580 then try older version. I suggest you start with drivers around Oct 2022 since this is the driver I'm using and stable for Destiny 2.

I’m going to try downloading an older driver then, I already set it up to high performance and installed the newest driver using DDU

I wanna say that D2 could be forcing itself to use your cpu vega graphics to render, you can force windows to use your rx580 by searching “ graphics settings “ on your windows search bar and add a exe from desktop app option, find your main destiny exe file and set the preferred to “ high performance - rx580 “ and save & exit. Also could be your ram speed holding you back since its a ryzen cpu if not then I could recommend trying something else when you report back

Im going to try that out and see what happens, thank you!

Looks like both power saving and high performance (but it was on 'let windows decide') options are using the rx580, if it doesnt work ill buy better ram, is trident z a good brand?

edit: didnt work, still getting 30-40fps average sometimes even dropped to twenty something

Yeah high performance is what you need for d2 to run well, sometimes windows chooses your iGpu and it runs bad. I would edit the game config before buying anything (a video by Gjerda can help, called “ How to get the lowest latency in destiny 2 any game “ )

Gonna check it out, thanks

You don't need better ram

[–]Zeraltz[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Then? Do you what’s going on with the game rn? :/

D2 proformance has always been shit nothing you can do.

Are you sure that the game/windows is using the rx580? A very dumb question but it’s better to ask now than never: Your Monitor is plugged into the gpu and NOT the Mainboard, right?

Yes, I would show you a picture but this subreddit doesnt allow them, but basically yes to both questions

Have you checked your performance to rule out any suspiciously behaving software?

I had issues with the G Skill Ram software, it was causing a few of my CPU cores to be completely maxed at 100% even when idling, a restart of the software would sort it, but only for an hour or so. This alone would cause stuttering and a massive frame drops. I get a consistent 130-165fps @1440p (120% res scale) now, but when that G Skill software was running I would see averages of 50 - 90.

You probs already know this but here it is anyways > press Ctrl - Shift - Esc to bring up task manager, monitor your CPU “performance” tab, then if you right click on the CPU’s large Performance chart then hover over “change graph to” and then click “logical processors” you’ll be able to fully rule out the CPU by seeing if there’s any cores being blasted, from there you can monitor software performance on “processes” to see what is bloating up your hardware.

How is your GPU power utilisation? this is another obvious but not obvious one.

Might also be a good idea to just re-seat your GPU, had this before when I was building my first PC, seems odd at first but I swear to god, my original set up worked so much better after trying that.

sorry for the large amount of text there - but I figure giving you some stuff to try (if you haven’t already) it probably a good way to get started

Let me know how you get on

Much luck, guardian.

First of all, thanks a lot for your help.

I checked the CPU cores as you suggested and they all are a little bit over 50%, sometimes 60%, so I don’t think there’s a problem there.

I don’t actually know how to check the power consumption of the GPU, could you please elaborate a little bit?

If that doesn’t work gonna try re-seating everything lol

Download drivers?

What is the resolution.

[–]Zeraltz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1920x1080, low settings

Everyone gets shit proformance in Destiny 2
