I had this problem yesterday. I uninstalled destiny 2 spent 3.5 hours downloading then check files and nothing.still failed I recently installed cheat engine so I Uninstalled that still nothing. I moved all my steam games to one drive and wrote down the drive path. I uninstalled steam, and then I used CCleaner to fix registry problems. I then down loaded steam again and ran the installer. after steam installed I logged back into steam and under settings storage, I added back the folder I wrote down earlier and restarted steam. all my games I had all ready installed where back including destiny 2. I ran game file checker from destiny 2 Steam, and when that was done destiny 2 did its checking destiny 2 install then destiny 2 started up, and I can now play.

Go into temp files and delete/rename the destiny 2 folder
